Tradelands Economic Update – February 2nd, 2025

The economy of Tradelands opened the year with $1,36 Billion Doubloons in market activity. This is down -14.6% from the same month last year. Despite the lower overall performance, it’s too early to call this a recession year for the game. The Winter Event has traditionally led to unpredictable market behavior, with some events performing well above expectations while others perform below expectations. For example, the lack of new Premium Material Cladifiers, they were all re-releases, had an impact on the overall performance for the month.

The market saw $1.36 Billion in total market strength in January. The market remained fairly steady for the month, with the largest peaks coming at the end of the Winter Event and the sale of the Janus.

Janus Variant

January saw the release of a new ship variant called the Janus. It is a limited time variant for the Otter which is has three methods of obtaining. The main change is to the rigging which impacts the sail performance of the ship, as well as some cosmetic changes if you are purchasing the version that is available through Premium Tokens. Moreover, because it is applied to the existing Otter ship, players on Trade Guild are able to use this ship without any restrictions.

There are three methods of obtaining the ship which we reviewed this year:

Method

Typical Cost

Market Evaluation

Apply Sales without any Cosmetics

$100,000

Maintain the look and feel of your current Otter but apply the improved crosswind sailing characteristics. This is the bets value if you already have an Otter with colors/materials applied.

Purchase with Premium Tokens

$1.326.100

The variant comes fully loaded as shown in the picture above. The cannons are not Universal Cannons but have Terry Cannon Converters applied.

Build with Materials

$5,720,805

Buying the materials to re-create the ship in the picture above requires over $5M to replicate. However, you have more control on what colors/materials you want to use.

While this variant is no longer available on the market, the note from the development team suggests there will be other variants available over the next few months on a limited time basis. You can expect that they will operate under the same principles as the Janus, where applying the variant to a pre-existing ship is the cheapest option, but purchasing it with Premium Tokens is the ideal option if you want a fully kitted and decorated experience.

Bubbas Bad Breath Underperforms

Bubba’s Bad Breath performed below market expectations after its release in the Winter Event Mystery Crates. However, this is part of a slow and steady trend of these types of weapons after Mystery Crate weapon types were standardized last year.

Bubbas Bad Breath price is $39,841.64. This is down -31.98% from the expected price point during their initial launch.
Bubbas Bad Breath has seen price increases since going off-sale, indicating that it will likely follow a similar aging pattern to other swivel style guns.

If you are looking for this type of weapon, there are four variants that are available on the market, and their price depends on their aging and cosmetic value:

  • Blunderblaster – The original weapon that has this style of attack and uses Swivel Ammunition. Market rate for one in January was $1.2M.
  • Trapshooter Blunderblaster – The last blunderblaster released prior to crate standardization. Market rate for one in January was $91K.
  • Firebreather – The first blunderblaster of the new crate standardization and only one of Inyolan design. Market rate in January was $186K
  • Scattergun – Released in October 2023 with same mechanics as previous blunders, saw market price become half of existing market value. Market Rate in January was $92K.
  • Bubbas Bad Breath – Released in the Winter event, immediately following the October release, and saw its value become half of the market value. Market rate at the end of January was 39K.

In other words, there is more supply than demand for Blunderblasters on the market at present. They are also being released faster than they are being consumed, which means each new release de-values the market for them. At present, the rate of devaluation is about half, but this will likely slow down as prices reach parity to other ranged weapons on the market. Effectively, the price of these weapons is based on their cosmetic value rather than their combat performance, since their are so many available to players.

Rise of Kingfisher

The Kingfisher Blueprint is the first non-ironclad Blueprint to follow the Wyvern Voucher in terms of initial price performance. Based on current trends, it is expected to break a market price point of $3M sometime in February. Part of the reason for the ship’s success has been it’s exception speed and performance, coupled with the fact that it is one of the best trading ships usable by Trade Guild players.

Kingfisher Blueprint price is $1,723,626.49. This is trending up +24.42% in January.
Trade value is higher than the current index value, meaning players are willing to spend more than the current price point.
